Variety reports that Matt Corman and Chris Ord have signed on to work on a new Daredevil series on Disney Plus. Both are best known for co-creating Covert Affairs, which aired on the USA Network from 2010 until 2014. Unfortunately, the report doesn’t mention if this is a new series or a reboot and if Charlie Cox will reprise his role as the titular vigilante who works as the blind lawyer, Matt Murdock, during the day. This latest piece of intel coincides with the report back in March that Disney is working on a Daredevil reboot. Enough time has certainly passed since for Marvel Studios to shop the idea around and find someone to helm the series. It is a shame though that Drew Goddard isn’t coming back after serving as the showrunner of Daredevil and The Defenders in its initial run on Netflix.

A Daredevil reboot wouldn’t necessarily be outside of the realm of possibility either. Both Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The former made his debut in last year’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Meanwhile, D’Onofrio’s Kingpin was in the Disney Plus series, Hawkeye. After bringing the aforementioned actors to the same universe (and even the same city), it will be a shame if their appearances were one-offs, as unlikely as this is. Daredevil and the rest of Netflix’s MCU shows were the talks of the town earlier this year. Eventually, the storm passed and Daredevil found a new home on Disney+, which coincided with the new R-rated content rating system and a more violent MCU show in Moon Knight. So, who knows? Maybe Cox wasn’t lying when he hinted that a new Daredevil season would take a page out of the 1986 comic book arc, Born Again, that saw Murdock go insane after Kingpin finds out his true identity. In the meantime, MCU fans can check out another litigator in action in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law when it premieres in August. Fingers crossed, Disney will use the show as an excuse to bring back MCU’s other superpowered legal adviser.
