As per Unilad, Depp’s lawyer, Camille Vasquez, cross-examined Heard, asking the Aquaman actress, “Mr. Depp got you that role in Aquaman, didn’t he?” to which, the actor replied, “Excuse me?” When asked again the same question, Heard flat-out denied the accusation, saying, “No, Ms. Vasquez, I got that role by auditioning.” This was one of the highlights of Heard’s fourth day on the stand at Depp’s still-ongoing defamation trial.

Heard and Depp’s nasty divorce and the legal issues that followed have affected the former couple’s Hollywood careers. Case in point, Warner Bros. asked Depp to vacate his post from the Fantastic Beasts franchise with Mads Mikkelsen replacing him in Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. Meanwhile, Heard revealed in another testimony that the trial has cost her a significant amount of screentime from next year’s Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom. At the same time, fans have launched several petitions. Unfortunately for Heard, the most popular Change.org petitions are calling on Warner Bros. Discovery and the DCEU to remove her from the cinematic universe. Last we checked, the petition for Heard to leave Aquaman 2 has reached more than 4 million signatures. While the studio hasn’t commented on this petition yet, the film’s producer, Peter Safran, mentioned it last year. It will be interesting to see if the negative publicity resulting from Heard’s involvement in the DCEU will force Warner Bros. to go from reducing her role to replacing her in Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom. The Depp v. Heard trial resumed earlier this week and will conclude on May 27. Speaking of Johnny Depp, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor mentioned during the trial that he’s never coming back. However, notable film producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, hasn’t closed the door on Depp’s return. In a recent interview, Bruckheimer mentioned that Depp could still reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a future Pirates of the Caribbean film. Bruckheimer also confirmed that at least two films in the fantasy swashbuckler franchise are on the table with Disney eyeing Margot Robbie as the potential lead.
