Arcane is based on a much-revered video game franchise, League of Legends, developed and published by Riot Games. The show was released to the streaming service in November 2021 and is set in the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun. It chronicles two sisters, Jinx and Vi, who become separated in childhood. They follow different paths in life and finally reunite several years later. The series features a stellar cast, which includes Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell, Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Toks Olagundoye, Jason Spisak, and Harry Lloyd. Christian Linke, who serves as one of the show’s creators, picked up the award and had this to say: “Thank you for this. It’s a big deal for us, as we come from video games. It’s been amazing to see the world embrace our characters and our stories, so thanks to Netflix, who believed in us from the beginning, thanks to Riot Games, who worked on the whole IP … and to all the people that have been with our game and League of Legends for the last 12 years or so who helped make it as big as it is now.”

However, neither succeeded in winning the big prize. Arcane’s popularity among critics and audiences alike should guarantee that Riot Games is going to continue producing similar content. At the moment, Netflix has renewed Arcane for a second season that’s set to release next year.
