From Egypt in Origins to Greece in Odyssey, Valhalla took gamers to England and Norway as they took control of Eivor, a devoted and confident Viking clan leader whose ruthless aggression and savagery was one of the biggest highlights of the game. While Valhalla definitely gave gamers a vast, expansive, and beautiful terrain to conquer and pillage, the fact of the matter is that most gamers would have probably finished the game right now, including collecting all the unique and legendary weapons that you can find. Thus, this begs the question, what’s next for Valhalla? Luckily, Ubisoft gave gamers a lot to look forward to even before the game launched. As detailed in one of their pre-launch videos, Ubisoft intends to support Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with a constant stream of free updates and events for the better part of the next year. More importantly, those who bought a Season Pass will have access to two massive expansions later on. The first of which is the Wrath of the Druids that’s due to release on April 29. If you’d like to know more about what Wrath of the Druids is and why you should look forward to it, be sure to scroll down below.
When Is the Wrath of the Druids Release Date?
As we’ve already mentioned, Wrath of the Druids is the first of the two expansions planned for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It’s set to release in Spring 2021 or to be precise, on April 29, although it is possible that Ubisoft will move it by a couple of weeks.
What’s New in Wrath of the Druids?
After wreaking havoc all over England and Norway, Eivor now sets his sights on the rolling hills and vales of green that is the Emerald Isle, otherwise more commonly known as the nation of Ireland. It will let players explore vast lush land that’s surprisingly darker than what they were able to explore in the base game. Here’s everything that will be added to the game along with the Wrath of the Druids DLC:
A Heavy Dose of Mysticism
Believe it or not, Eivor will feel right at home in Ireland. The decentralized myth-filled nation of Ireland feels a lot like the North countries where Eivor originated. Here, Eivor will get a chance to meet with ancient Gaelic kings and their merry band of followers that are sure to spice up your adventures throughout the land.
The Children of Danu
Ubisoft has not yet revealed exactly why Eivor will head to Ireland and, perhaps, it’s the right decision. However, chances are, it has something to do with the Children of Danu. This mysterious cult is starting to grow its influence all over the island and is believed to be descended from the Order of the Ancients. While we know very little of the Children of Danu right now, what we do know is that they not the sort of bunch that you’ll want to encounter anytime soon.
Forts are Back
Conquests are going to make a return in Wrath of the Druids in the form of Ringed Forts. Apparently, you’ll have to take over the Ringed Forts in order to establish your dominance over the many regions that make up Ireland. However, what’s unique about the conquest mechanic this time around is that there are rumors that rival factions will attempt to take back their turf. This means that you’ll have to be on your toes, otherwise, you’ll end up losing a fort or two.
New Weapons and Armors
As expected, the Wrath of the Druids DLC will add a ton of new armors and weapons for players to wear in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The incoming gear will all be heavily influenced by Gaelic and Celtic culture.
A New Trading System
During the so-called Viking Age, Ireland’s capital city, Dublin, was an important trading hub. In the game, it serves a similar purpose. However, players will be able to influence the bustling trading port to some extent. Just how exactly they’ll do that is something that only Ubisoft knows for now. But, what we’re sure of is that you’ll be able to trade and even smuggle stuff in and out of Dublin once Wrath of the Druids arrives in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Revamped Gameplay Mechanics
Wrath of the Druids will also add a number of huge changes to how the game plays. In particular, the upcoming DLC will help make dual-wielding a much more viable combat method with rumors that players will be able to dual-wield swords this time around. The progression and gear system will also be improved to help polish up the gameplay mechanics.
Is Wrath of the Druids the Only DLC for AC Valhalla?
As we’ve already mentioned earlier, Wrath of the Druids is just the first of the two expansions for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that’s expected to arrive in 2021. It is currently unknown if Ubisoft intends to add more content once the second expansion, Siege of Paris, is added later in Summer 2021. But, many seem to believe that Ubisoft is planning to release a third big expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, although this has yet to be confirmed.
