Netflix recently confirmed that it has secured the rights to an adult animated series and live-action adaptation of The Coalition’s Gears of War franchise. The creator of the series, Cliff Bleszinski, immediately let everyone know that Bautista deserves the lead role in the film. Now, it’s not just other people who are putting Bautista’s name in consideration for Netflix’s Gears of War - it’s the man himself.

— Dave Bautista (@DaveBautista) November 10, 2022 Unlike others who may have only served as an inspiration for a particular character, Gears of War literally featured Bautista before. As seen in the video Bautista uploaded, he personally wore a full COG Soldier attire while he promoted his inclusion as a playable character in Gears 5. The former WWE wrestler’s look, tone, and physique, all match the characteristics of Gears of War characters. In addition to this, Bautista has mentioned several times in the past that he’s reached out to studios to get a Gears of War film made to no avail. But, time and money can do a lot to change people’s minds. Now that Netflix has seen the light, we’re just hoping that they’ll make the most out of it and get the franchise’s most fervent supporter. Of course, we can never be too sure if Bautista will play Marcus Fenix or any other character in a live-action Gears of War film. The good news is that the path is clear for him. Aside from what we’ve already mentioned, Bautista has established a working relationship with Netflix after landing starring roles in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. Given that Bautista will vacate the Marvel Cinematic Universe following the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 next year, he’ll need another potential cinematic universe to fill in his time and a lead role could be just the thing. Who knows? Bautista could reel in his new buddy, Jason Momoa, and have him do a cameo or two in the live-action adaptation. After all, the two are set to work together in a buddy cop film with MGM Studios. Speaking of Bautista, the retired professional wrestler will star in Knock at the Cabin by M. Night Shyamalan, which premieres next year.
