So far, everything we’ve seen about Far Cry 6 looks like it will be more like Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 than Far Cry 5. Unfortunately, because it was delayed from its initial February 2021 release date, we’ll have to wait a while to see if Far Cry 6 is a good game or not. If it’s any consolation, Ubisoft has started revealing more about Far Cry 6 since the delay earlier this year.
Below, we’ve rounded up all the important information about Far Cry 6, from its release date to a trailer, important gameplay details, and more.
When is the Far Cry 6 Release Date?
Far Cry 6 joined the long list of delayed and postponed games of 2021 earlier in February. Ubisoft blamed the delay on the COVID-19 pandemic. A few months later in May 2021, Ubisoft revealed that Far Cry 6 will be releasing on October 7, 2021, along with a gameplay reveal.
Is There a Far Cry 6 Trailer Available?
We only have two Far Cry 6 trailers go on so far, but the quality of what was revealed so far has been impressive. The first trailer was a great introduction to the world of Yara, which was reportedly inspired by modern-day Cuba, and the dictator, Anton Castillo, who will be played by none other than Giancarlo Esposito of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. You can have a look at it below: Then, in May 2021, Ubisoft revealed more details about what fans can expect from Far Cry 6 when it launched in October. Among the many new and important information shown off in the latest Far Cry 6 trailer includes a look at the protagonist, as well as the expansive setting and the many customizable vehicles that players will get a chance to drive in Far Cry 6. The latest Far Cry 6 trailer also confirms the use of smartphones in the game. This means that Far Cry 6 should be set in modern times. In addition to this, the newest Far Cry 6 trailer showed off how Dani can create all sorts of unique weapons like a CD gun launcher, among many others. You also get to have your own dog or crocodile (no, we’re not kidding) in Far Cry 6.
What Platforms Will Far Cry 6 Release On?
How Will Far Cry 6 Gameplay Be Different?
Far Cry 6 will bring several changes to the usual formula. Granted, these are all welcome. The last few outings have been lackluster and Far Cry 6 could help do to the Far Cry franchise what Assassin’s Creed: Origins did to the Assassin’s Creed series. For one thing, one of the biggest changes coming to Far Cry 6 is the much larger open-world environment. Also, unlike in previous Far Cry games, Far Cry 6 will feature a major city named Esperanza, with high-rise buildings, among other things. Players will also be using more homemade stuff being that the game revolves around a group of rebels attempting to revolt against a tyrannical leader. Although we’ll probably see some standard military weapons, don’t be surprised if most of the Far Cry 6 weaponry looks like something that people just hobbled up together. While Far Cry 6 is going to change a lot, it will borrow some elements from older Far Cry games. In particular, the Guns for Hire system from Far Cry 5. The same system, which was inspired by the buddy system in Far Cry 2, will return in Far Cry 6. According to Ubisoft, the AI companions that you can hire in Far Cry 6 will be “larger than life”.
Who Is the Far Cry 6 Protagonist?
The protagonist of the Far Cry games has never been the highlight. They were just, well, there, and you get to play them. This is where arguably the biggest change in Far Cry 6 comes in. The game puts you in control of a fully fleshed-out character with a backstory more than just you happened to be there or born to do what you were doing. In Far Cry 6, players will take control of Dani Rojas, who is a retired Yaran soldier that joins up with the freedom fighters who want to overthrow Anton Castillo’s regime. Dani will come fully voiced and players can choose Dani’s gender at the start of the game. This is a completely new direction for the Far Cry series. It could help make the experience more memorable if Ubisoft pulls it off.
Will Far Cry 6 Have Multiplayer?
Ever since Far Cry 3’s co-op multiplayer gameplay, Ubisoft has been careful to switch up the proven and winning formula. It looks like things are going to remain the same with Far Cry 6 as it lets players team up with friends in its open world and just causes wanton mayhem or complete any side activities or even both. Unfortunately, Far Cry 6 won’t let players do important missions when co-op play is active.
Is There Going To Be Far Cry 6 DLC?
According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 6 will launch with a season pass that already comes with three DLC content. The studio did not share further details about what these DLCs will contain, but it shouldn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Most likely, the DLC will contain a standalone story expansion or spin-off. Naturally, most people wondering about the Far Cry 6 DLC will probably be hoping that Ubisoft will release something similar to Far Cry 3’s Blood Dragon. Here’s to hoping that the Far Cry 6 DLC will include such content.
