The latest Doom Patrol trailer was unveiled at the recently concluded New York Comic Con event, where several cast members were in attendance. Alongside this, HBO Max also revealed the show’s premiere date as December 8. The short but exciting trailer shows a ton of promise. It opens at a secret underground facility where they have succeeded in creating a “weaponized force of nature”. We are soon introduced to the weapons, which turn out to be a group of butts with teeth called were-butts. The creatures put on a fascinating presentation where they exhibit a choreographed dance while singing a Music Man classic. However, do not be deceived. Even though they look ridiculous, the creatures are vicious and can eat an entire person. Due to the danger these creatures pose, Doom Patrol must assemble and take the creatures down. A press release by HBO Max provides more insight into what fans can expect in the new season. It states that the season will see the team travel to the future where, after they are confronted with their own demise, they must make an impossible choice between their happiness and the fate of the world. For the new season, Brendan Fraser, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Matt Bomer, and Joivan Wade all reprise their roles as Robotman, Elasti-girl, Crazy Jane, Negative Man, and Cyborg respectively. Michelle Gomez will also join these established members of the Doom Patrol team as Madame Rouge reprising her role from last season. Other members of the cast include Skye Roberts, Matthew Zuk, and Riley Shanahan. Doom Patrol is a comedy-drama series based on a DC Comics superhero group of the same name who are generally avoided by society. Each member of the team got caught up in an event that resulted in severe scars and mutilation. But, at the same time, it gave each of them a unique superpower. The show follows the affected individuals as they learn more of themselves and their abilities, and also try to use them for good. In other news, Brendan Fraser has a new movie, The Whale, coming out on December 9. What’s more? Black Adam star, Dwayne Johnson, paid homage to Fraser after he inspired a standing ovation for his role in The Whale during its screening at the Venice Film Festival. Johnson’s Black Adam film is itself scheduled for an October 21 release date. The new Doom Patrol season will debut with two episodes on Thursday, December 8 with a new episode to be released every subsequent Thursday until January 5, 2023. According to HBO Max, these eight episodes will make up the first part of the season with a part two, consisting of six extra episodes, to air sometime in 2023.
