Activision Blizzard confirmed at the Call of Duty Next event that PlayStation owners will be getting exclusive freebies for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. According to the game’s publisher, PlayStation players will get an exclusive Operator and a high-level weapon blueprint, which you’ll see in the video below: Hiro “Oni” Wanatabi looks like a mix between a modern soldier and a classic samurai, which should’ve been obvious given its name. “Oni” is a general Japanese term that refers to demons and other evil entities. In addition to the standard issue army gear, Oni carries a pair of short swords and a Japanese face mask with him into battle. PlayStation owners will get Oni for free alongside a weapon blueprint so long as they pre-order the digital version of the game. As per the trailer, the PlayStation-exclusive content will eventually come to other platforms - one year after the game’s launch on October 27, 2023. It’s worth noting that Sony still has a content exclusivity deal with Activision. Microsoft has promised to honor this deal and make Call of Duty available on the PlayStation for years to come. But, if you ask PlayStation boss, Jim Ryan, the extension that Microsoft is offering to Sony is far from enough. Thankfully, Modern Warfare II seems jampacked enough with fun content to make all of us forget that Call of Duty might become exclusive to the Xbox. At least, for a little while.
