Much of Black Panther 2 remains under wraps right now, but Thorne’s involvement is no secret. She’ll play Riri Williams in the film, a certified super genius enrolled at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on scholarship who later builds her suit, meets up with Tony Stark, and becomes Ironheart. But, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe seeing Robert Downey Jr.’s Ironman sacrificing himself following the events of 2019’s Endgame, it will be interesting to see how Williams is inspired by Stark and becomes a superheroine.

Some fans are suggesting that Williams in the MCU was one of the beneficiaries of Stark’s scholarship and that she’ll use the funding to build the suit. Unfortunately, we’ll never know for sure who MCU’s Ironheart is until we see more of her on-screen. The good news is that she recently celebrated wrapping up filming for Wakanda Forever after working on Black Panther 2 since June 21. With nearly 9 months of work put in for the upcoming MCU movie, fans can expect to see The Judas and the Black Messiah actress play a prominent role in the Black Panther sequel. The filming of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been tough for all parties involved. The movie lost its lead star, Chadwick Boseman, to cancer in 2020. Then, after filming began last June, production would be slowed down if not delayed entirely following the on-set injury of Letitia Wright, which sparked rumors that this was all a cover-up for Wright’s stance on COVID-19 vaccination. With Wright’s return in January and Thorne’s post, it appears that the long and tumultuous journey is finally coming to an end. Unfortunately, with less than a year before Black Panther: Wakanda Forever hits theaters in November, we can’t rule out the possibility that Marvel Studios will delay the movie to 2023 to give it more time for re-shoots and post-production work. Speaking of reshoots, Marvel Studios is adding more content to Thor: Love and Thunder just months ahead of its July launch. Also, we’re less than two months away from the May 6 opening night of the next MCU film, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was the highlight of Super Bowl LVI alongside Moon Knight.
