Details of the first-ever Netflix Geeked Week were announced via the company’s official Twitter account.
What to Expect from Netflix Geeked Week
As already mentioned, Geeked Week is a showcase that, according to Netflix, will include “big news, exciting first looks, and more from the shows and films you love.” Although we wouldn’t have blamed Netflix if it simply announced that the showcase will be a celebration of all of its upcoming video game adaptations. With that said, Netflix didn’t really go into much detail as to what will be shown at the Netflix Geeked Week. Will it include each respective show’s first trailers and release dates? Probably. If so, then it will mark the first time that fans will have a chance to see Season 2 of The Witcher, which recently finishing filming, and The Cuphead Show. The Cuphead Show is an anime series based on the video game, Cuphead. It was first announced at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival last June 2020 and is set to release sometime this 2021. The Cuphead Show and The Witcher aren’t the only shows that will be showcased during Netflix Geeked Week though. Other confirmed TV series’ that will make an appearance include Masters of the Universe: Revelation, Lucifer, The Umbrella Academy, The Sandman, Sweet Tooth, Cowboy Bebop, and Resident Evil. We don’t know which of Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil adaptations will be part of Netflix Geeked Week. We’re betting that it’s Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. At the same time, we’re secretly hoping that it will also include a first look at the upcoming Resident Evil live-action series as well. As for what time exactly on June 7 to 11, Netflix Geeked Week will take place is unknown at the moment. It’ll be interesting to see how well Netflix Geeked Week will go and if it will end up becoming the first of many. Earlier this week, we reported on Netflix reaching out to big names in the gaming industry in their search for an executive that would help its expansion to video games. Whether this has yielded results or not has yet to be confirmed. One thing that we do know is that Netflix’s video game adaptations are doing better than ever, with Castlevania now widely considered one of the best attempts ever released.
