Although Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition hasn’t reached such levels of infamy yet, some believe that it’s coming close to it and are already demanding refunds just days into the compilation’s release.

Why are players demanding GTA Trilogy refunds?

It’s no secret that today’s gamers are much more demanding. This is one of the cons of having a wider market that’s more willing to throw money at developers. Studios are almost beholden to what the mass populace thinks of their titles. Even Rockstar Games will have no choice but to listen to customers when thousands if not even more are complaining about GTA: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition. The aforementioned title is a compilation that contains Grand Theft Auto III, San Andreas, and Vice City. It’s safe to say that the bundle was hyped weeks before its eventual release last November 11. The only problem? It’s an unoptimized mess that might contain controversial files such as the “Hot Coffee” mod. Another common issue with GTA Trilogy is the graphics. Many expected the games to look better than they does. Honesty, this isn’t something that should be an issue and worth refunding over. After all, Rockstar never claimed to overhaul the classic GTA titles. Instead, Rockstar made it clear that these were remastered - not remade. If you take a look at the Nintendo Switch graphics of the game, they’re not half-bad, all things considered. What is a valid concern though is that the game is unplayable, glitchy, and buggy to the point that Rockstar decided to pause its PC sales. If it’s any consolation, the game’s developers, Grove Street Games, are promising fixes and updates soon. Unfortunately, we just don’t know when these will come. Because the game is crashing, glitching, and is filled with bugs on all platforms, fans are having none of it. After going through the same thing a little over a year ago with Cyberpunk 2077, fans want Rockstar to shape up - or else. It will be interesting to see if Rockstar will offer refunds or not and if so, for which platforms. Some are speculating that Rockstar knew about GTA Trilogy’s incomplete state, which is why it’s not available immediately on Steam. Regardless of what happens, this incident should send a message to Rockstar that fans these days are different.
