What’s Coming in the Rainbow Six Siege Y6S1 Update?

Operation Crimson Heist will kick off the Rainbow Six Siege Y6S1 update. However, the new map will also bring in a new operator. The said operator is Flores, who specializes in the use of drones to break in and wreak havoc via explosions. In addition to the addition of a new operator, other utility-based defenders will also be reworked. Speaking of reworks, the Border map will be updated as well. Ubisoft claims that the update will aim to help improve gameplay on the said map. At the same time, another focus is to help improve the quality of life of players. For example, Ubisoft will expand the 1F Bathroom on the said map to provide a soft wall standing in between the 1F Tellers and 1F Bathroom bombsites. In addition to this, they’ve also extended the 2F Archives bomb side to reach all the way into the 2F Offices. Other notable changes include connecting the East Stairs to the 2F Break Room via an interior balcony with a new exterior staircase added that will lead directly to the 2F Archives balcony.

However, after Ubisoft’s latest statement, it is now confirmed that Operation Crimson Heist will release alongside the new update. The said update will release across all major platforms on Tuesday, March 16. But, the update will not arrive on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, simultaneously. Instead, the patch will roll out at different times. It will arrive on the PC first, followed by the Xbox Consoles, and finally, the PlayStation consoles. Ubisoft also warned players to expect at least an hour of downtime for each platform to make way for the update. The file size for each platform for the Rainbow Six Siege Update Y6S1 is as follows:

It’s amazing to think that Rainbow Six Siege remains relevant to this day. It wasn’t too long when it had a disastrous launch that all but doomed it to failure. However, Ubisoft worked at it and listened to community feedback. As a result, it managed to turn things around in a way that very few games have managed to do so since. The Rainbow Six Siege Y6S1 update is just the first of the four seasons of updates expected to come to the online tactical shooter over the next 12 months.
