The latest addition to the list of games being rumored to come to the handheld console is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition. The game was released for all other major platforms last year during the 10th anniversary of Skyrim’s release. NintendoPAL first reported that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition has been rated by the Pan-European Game Information (PEGI). The game was rated as PEGI 18 which limits the game’s accessibility to adults only. This is not the first time we have seen the tenth anniversary edition of the game rated for the Nintendo Switch. In May 2022, we already reported that the tenth-anniversary edition of the game was rated in Taiwan. The PEGI rating for the game has started speculation that the game will be announced for Switch soon. The PEGI rating is required for games released in Europe which may be in preparation for an official announcement that the game will release on Switch.
Skyrim Anniversary Edition
The vanilla Skyrim has already been ported to the Switch and was the first game from Bethesda for Nintendo since Home Alone was released in 1991 for the NES. The game was released on the handheld console on November 17, 2017. The anniversary edition is an enhanced version of the base game. It includes all three major expansions of the game: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. It also adds 500 pieces of content from the game’s Community Creation Club. This includes new dungeons, quests, weapons, items, spells, and bosses created by Bethesda and the creator community of the game. The latest edition of the game even includes a brand new fishing system. Bethesda released the anniversary edition in celebration of the 10th year of the game’s release. The game came out on November 11, 2011. The anniversary edition was well received by fans of the game. Skyrim enjoys a strong community around the game with mods and community-driven content being constantly added to the game.
Nintendo Direct
The PEGI rating for Skyrim Anniversary Edition has further strengthened the rumor that a Nintendo Direct will be happening soon. Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb recently predicted that the event will happen on September 12th. During his “Last of the Nintendogs” podcast, he disclosed that several insiders have mentioned that a Nintendo Direct will happen very soon. He also mentioned Zelda’s Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, and Metroid Prime as games that will be ported to the handheld console. Another game that has been included in the list of games to be announced in the rumored Nintendo Direct is Biomutant. A game listing was recently spotted indicating that the action RPG will be coming to Switch on October 25th. We also recently reported that several known insiders have been sharing information about games from the Nintendo GameCube that will be ported to the Switch. If Bethesda does intend to release the Skyrim Anniversary Edition to Switch, Nintendo Direct will be the perfect venue to make such an announcement. We now have a significant hype around the rumored event will all the speculations and insider leaks. Nintendo has not yet announced the Nintendo Direct or confirmed that any of the games we recently reported on will come to Switch.
