In their most recent update to their Play at Home program, Sony announced that they are going to give away a mix of 10 indie titles and PSVR games starting March 25. Understandably, most of these are relatively unknown titles. However, Sony grabbed headlines by including Horizon: Zero Dawn as part of the initiative.

Get Ready to Play These Ten More Free Games This Spring

Sony brought back the Play at Home initiative earlier this year. They kicked things off by giving away the 2016 remake of their classic platformer title, Ratchet & Clank. However, with Microsoft, among others, giving away more and more free games via their Xbox Game Pass subscription service, Sony knew that they needed to keep up, or so to speak. With that said, the most recent Play at Home 2021 Update is more than enough. From March 25 up until April 22, players will be able to own and download as many as 9 of the promised titles for free. This includes titles such as The Witness, Abuza, Enter the Gungeon, Subnautica, Moss, Paper Beast, Thumper, Rez Infinite, and Astro Bot: Rescue Mission. Then, from April 19 until May 14, Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be available free of charge. Horizon: Zero Dawn is a first-party action role-playing game developed by Guerilla Games that was released in 2017. It garnered critical acclaim and achieved commercial success, and received an expansion in late 2017. It was also one of the first PlayStation-exclusive titles that Sony ported over to the PC platform with a sequel announced for 2021. The Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition contains the base game and the expansion, The Frozen Wilds, as well as other downloadable content released for the game. While it’s important to note that the Play at Home initiative is available worldwide, not all the announced titles will be available to download free for everyone. In China, players will not be able to download The Witness, Enter the Gungeon, Abzu, Moss, Paper Beast, Thumper, Rez Infinite, and Subnautice. Meanwhile, Enter the Gungeon will also not be available in China, Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Thailand. 3 of the 10 free games also require a PSVR headset as well. This includes Astro Bot: Rescue Mission, Paper Beast, and Moss. This means that players will be able to add these PSVR-exclusive games to their library. However, players who download these games won’t be able to play them until they get themselves a PSVR headset.

Sony Doesn’t Seem Keen on Letting Microsoft Win

In total, Sony is giving away at least 13 games in April. This includes 3 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. In addition to the 10 titles from the Play at Home 2021 initiative, Sony announced earlier in February that Oddworld: Soulstorm will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers for free at launch. This leaves at least 2 other titles that Sony has yet to announce. Considering that Microsoft announced that Outriders will launch on Xbox Game Pass, Sony will probably announce something just as big if not bigger for PlayStation Plus in April. Sony recently gave away Final Fantasy VII Remake to PlayStation Plus subscribers in March.
