New rumors suggest that Bethesda’s Starfield may be delayed yet again. The studio recently reaffirmed that the game will be coming in the first half of the year. The report suggests that Starfield will not be making a first-half release. The report comes from popular YouTuber and industry insider MrMattyPlays. According to the insider, the game will not be launching in the announced first-half release window and will likely be pushed back by one or two months towards July or August. “Starfield is getting a possible bump out of the first half because it’s currently updated,” MrMattyPlays said during Last Stand Media’s Defining Duke podcast.“Still [coming this] Summer but possibly [delayed] out of the first half.” He adds, “This source is someone that I trust quite a bit and they’ve been very correct…nothing from that source has been wrong.” MrMattyPlays did not provide an exact date or even month for the game’s release. And this is still just a rumor at this point. So, please take it with a grain of salt. We may get more information from Microsoft as it’s reportedly holding a developer deep dive event for Starfield later on after the upcoming Developer Direct live stream. Hopefully, we’ll get an announcement of the game’s new release window when the planned deep dive event happens. It would be the best place to announce a launch date and explain why the game has been delayed again. If we were to guess, the delay may have something to do with Redfall’s reported release in early May. There’s speculation that Bethesda and Arkane Studios will delay the upcoming horror shooter by six weeks from its original March release window to avoid the other notable horror video game titles coming out over the next few months. Redfall’s planned release in May will be quite close to a June release window for Starfield. While the two are from different video game genres, it is unlikely that Bethesda would want to release two titles so close to each other. These are both marquee titles for Bethesda and Microsoft. At this point, we can only hope that the delay will be just one or two months. Well, we will be happy to get the game this year, to be honest. A delayed but polished game is better than a product that is released on time but with game-breaking glitches. Starfield is coming to the Xbox Series X/S and PC sometime this year.
