The majority of the players always look for unique and mythical weapons in Valhalla. Still, many overlook the fact that the special armor sets in this game are also equally just as important. While some armor sets are quite a grind to complete, others are obtainable quite early in the game, which gives you a huge advantage. In this guide, we cover the top five (in no particular order) best armor sets that you can acquire in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Note that most of these armor sets can be obtained early in the game, so long as you are good at sneaking your way into certain locations (which you should be!). Some locations have a high power level and require you to either first reach that level or sneak your way in. Note that all the showcase images preview the mythical appearance (final appearance) of each armor set.
Mentor’s Armor Set
Mentor’s armor set is for those who prefer critical hits and speed over regular damage. Mentor’s armor is a decent armor to run but not the best on the list. The following are the perks you get for wearing the full armor set.
Mentor’s Mask
The Mentor’s Mask is found in the Sherwood hideout located inside the Sherwood Forest in Snotinghamscire. There are no tricky routes to the armor. Simply walk into the camp and make your way to the marked location. Use your eagle vision to highlight the location of the loot chest. It is inside one of the buildings.
Mentor’s Cloak
Mentor’s Cloak is found in the Loch Clunbre Hideout located at Eurvicsire. A small hut inside the hideout with a locked loot chest and a sleekit guard with the key to the loot chest. Eliminate the guard inside the hut, loot the body to get the key, and open the chest to get the Mentor’s Cloak.
Mentor’s Robe
The Mentor’s Robes can be found inside Saint Lewinna’s Church located in Suthsexe. Go to the side of the church, and you will find a lot of scaffoldings. Climb up the scaffolding until you see a hanging load blocking an entrance to the church. Shoot down the hanging load to reveal an entrance to the church. Once inside, you will see a ladder going down. Go down using the ladders. Once down, you will come across some crates that you can break to reveal another wooden floor that you can break to reach an even lower level. After breaking the platform, you will fall to the lowest possible church level. You will find a barred door, but you are on the barred side of the door and can break it open. Open the door and go through it to find another set of wooden crates blocking a moveable shelf. Clear the crates and move the shelf towards you to reveal a door behind the shelf. Go through the door, and at the end of the room, you will find a loot chest containing the Mentor’s Robes.
Mentor’s Vambrace
The Mentor’s Vambrace is found at the Anderitum Hideout located in Suthsexe. You can access the location via a hidden entrance, as shown on the map below. This hidden entrance icon doesn’t show up on the map until you are near it or have it in your vision at least once. When you are at the bottom, turn right and pick up the oil jar. Keep going forward and place the oil jar somewhere around. Do NOT throw it. Just place it down and break the wooden board in front of you. You will reveal a section you can slide through. Pick up the jar and slide through the gap. You will come across an obstruction that can be destroyed by causing an explosion. Place the oil jar by the obstruction and use your bow and arrow to shoot the oil jar causing an explosion and breaking the obstruction. Once the path is cleared, go through it, up the stairs, and forward until you reach the end with another destroyable wooden board. Destroy the wooden board using your bow and arrow to reveal another gap you can climb through. Climb through the gap and you will enter a room with the Mentor’s Vambrace loot chest.
Mentor’s Trousers
Mentor’s Trousers are found inside the Wincestre Garrison located in Wincestre. You will find the trousers inside a building with four red flags. The loot chest is inside a room with a barred door. First, you need to open this door. To do this, go to the left side of the building and use your eagle vision to see the barred door in red clearly. Use your bow and arrow to shoot it open. Go inside the building through the main door, and you will find the now unlocked door to your left. Go through the door, and you will reach the loot chest containing the Mentor’s Trousers.
Brigandine Armor Set
The Brigandine Armor is suitable for those who prefer to build an all-out warrior class for aggressive plays. It increases your overall melee damage and increases armor when surrounded by multiple enemies. You can acquire this armor super early in the game, and we recommend you get it as soon as you can since it will be beneficial during castle sieges where a lot of enemies will surround you. The following are the perks you get upon equipping the full set.
Brigandine Helm
The Brigandine Helm can be found at the Wenlocan Outpost located in Sciropescire. This was is not tricky to find. Head over to the camp, go to the far left side of the camp from the main entrance, and you will find a moveable stone in a “cave.” Move the stone, and you will reveal a narrow gap you can squeeze through. Go through the gap, and you will see the loot chest containing the Brigandine Helm right in front of you.
Brigandine Cape
The Brigandine Cape can be found along the shore north of Quatford in Sciropescire. There is a hidden entrance that you can use to get to the cape. You will find a destroyable obstruction at the marked location. You can shoot the oil jar on the abandoned, wrecked ship next to the obstruction to cause an explosion and blow open the hidden entrance. Once the path clears, go inside and keep moving forward, jumping through obstacles. Eventually, you will reach a dead end with a wooden board next to you. Destroy the wooden board to clear a pathway and keep moving forward until you see another moveable stone. Move the stone to reveal a narrow gap, squeeze through it and continue to finally reach the loot chest containing the Brigandine Cape.
Brigandine Armor
The Brigandine Armor is found inside Canterbury Cathedral, located in Cent. Make your way to the cathedral and go to the side of the building to find a ladder and scaffolding. Climb up, and you will find an open window without any glass. Enter, and you will find a barred door on the opposite balcony. Shoot it open using your bow and arrow. Note that you can also access this balcony area by entering through the cathedral’s main entrance and climbing up here. This route is just much convenient. Go around the balcony and go through the door you just unlocked. When you go through the door, you will come across stairs taking you downstairs. When you reach the bottom, you will find a destroyable obstruction on the ground. You can clear this by shooting the hanging weight on top of the obstruction. It will be a bit dark here, so use your torch and utilize your eagle vision to see things clearly. The load will drop on the obstruction, clearing it and revealing the loot chest containing the Brigandine Armor. You will also find the rare Opal stone next to the chest that you can use at Reda’s Shop back at the settlement.
Brigandine Gauntlets
The Brigandine Gauntlets are found at Beamasfield, located in Cent. The place is decently guarded, so tread carefully. It is a distrusted area, so remember to wear your cloak. The loot chest containing the gauntlets has two locks, and you must find two keys to unlock the chest. These keys are in the area. The first key is located inside a building that you can access through the window. If you are having trouble locating the building, use your eagle vision, and the key will be highlighted on your screen. Climb through the window, and you will find the key on the wooden table. The second key is found at an enemy camp located at the back of the house containing the locked chest. It is a small camp set up with a few guards. Eliminate the enemies or sneak your way to the camp. You will find the key on the pile of wood. Make your way to the main house in the area that has the chest. You can once again use your eagle vision to locate the yellow glowing object, which is the locked chest containing the gauntlets. Head inside the house and make your way to the second floor or an attic where the chest is located. You have already acquired the two keys needed to unlock the chest. Approach the chest, and you will get a prompt to unlock it.
Brigandine Trousers
The Brigandine Trousers are found in an enemy base camp located at the shores of Dover Fortress in Cent. There is an enormous underground cave that leads directly to the Dover Fortress. But, you do not need to go that deep into the cave. Luckily, the trousers are just near the entrance of the cave. The place is heavily guarded, so be on the lookout when lurking about this particular place. Continue towards the cave entrance, and you will find a ramp on the right side of the cave entrance. Before moving forward, you will find some oil jars just before the entrance to the cave. Grab one of the oil jars and continue towards the ramp entering the cave. Stay on the right-hand side of the cave, and as soon as you enter the cave, you will find an obstruction on the ground that can be destroyed via an explosion. Place the oil jar on the obstruction and shoot it using your bow and arrow to cause an explosion. This will destroy the obstruction revealing a new hidden path. Go down into the new hole, and you will find another destroyable wooden door. Destroy the door, and you will reach an underground room with a loot chest containing the Brigandine Trousers.
Thegn’s Armor Set
Thegn’s Armor set is for players who favor a defensive playstyle. If you are someone who parries a lot during combat, then this is a perfect armor set for you. Thegn’s Armor set increases your chances of doing critical damage after a successful parry. It also does additional critical damage to the enemies. The following are the perks you receive for wearing the full set of Thegn’s Armor.
Thegn’s Great Helm
Thegn’s Great Helm is found inside The Old Minster building in Wincestre. The loot chest requires three keys to open. You first need to find these three keys around the Old Minster. Head inside the Old Minster, and climb up on the wooden platform in the middle of the church hallway. You will find the first key on this wooden platform. The second key is found at the top of the church inside the spire structure. Climb up on the spire platform, and walk around until you find some wooden crates. You can break these crates to reveal an opening you can slide through. Slide through the opening, and you will find the second key resting on a thin wooden crate. The third and final key is inside the Old Minster church. Head inside the church and reach the end of the hallway until you reach the podium with a light-colored banner/flag. Go behind the banner, and you will enter the back of the church. Immediately to your right is another room with a metallic railing across, which is your third key sitting on a wooden crate. You can climb the railing and jump across to access the key. After collecting all three keys, make your way to the main courtyard of the church. Use your eagle vision to locate the yellow glowing circle that indicates the loot chest containing the Thegn’s Great Helm. You will notice that there is a window that you can break to enter the room with the loot chest. Use your bow and arrow to break the glass window and enter the room. After breaking the glass, climb up into the room and you will find a loot chest with three locks containing the Thegn’s Great Helm.
Thegn’s Cloak
The Thegn’s Cloak is found inside the Bishop’s Residence located in Wincestre. The area is heavily guarded especially the front entrance. Your best option is to use the buildings’ rooftops to reach the Bishop’s Residence and go around the back. Once inside, climb up to the second floor. When you are on the second floor, you will find two pathways. One to the left and a barred door to the right. Go to the left side and you will find a blocked pathway. It will be blocked by a wooden board, you can break it open and enter the room. Once inside, you will see a moveable shelf. Move the shelf to reveal a small gap in the wall. You can see the loot chest in the other room along with the barred door which is located on the right-hand side of the balcony floor. Shoot open the barred door through this gap using your bow and arrow to unlock it. Go back outside and to the right side to open the door and enter the room with the loot chest containing the Thegn’s Cloak.
Thegn’s Heavy Tunic
To get to the Thegn’s Heavy Tunic, you’’ require a bit of swimming. YOu can find it at the Temple of Brigantia in Eurviscire. When you reach the temple, you will find a tall statue in the middle of the temple with water surrounding it. You need to dive underwater at the base of the statue and go right underwater to go through a pathway. It is quite dark underwater to make out a path or route, it would be best to regularly use the eagle vision to keep track of your path. Continue down the path and keep swimming until you reach a loot chest. There are no sub-paths. It is a straight path. Open the chest to acquire the Thegn’s Heavy Tunic and continue to swim forward to eventually come out of the water and back at the temple.
Thegn’s Bracers
Thegn’s Bracers are probably the easiest to acquire. You can get them at the Stenwege Camp in Eurviscire. There is a building inside the camp that has the loot chest containing the bracers. Normally, this camp is hostile early in the game so you’ll need to sneak your way in. But, if you have already played through the main story quest, then the camp would be overtaken by your allies and the area would be completely hostile-free. You can always use your eagle vision to locate the loot chest which is highlighted in a gold/yellow color. Head inside the building and the chest is resting by the wall.
Thegn’s Breeches
Thegn’s Breeches can be found in Aelfwood bandit camp located in Glowecestrescire. This camp is one of the most heavily guarded camps and can be difficult to infiltrate. If you haven’t defeated one of the large brutes in here, then you will have to defeat the brute to acquire the key to the locked door. Conveniently enough, the brute with the key is right above the cave with the chest containing the breeches. We were quite far into the game, and we had already visited this place quite early in the game. We were able to just sneak right past all the guards and acquire the breeches avoiding all conflict. Remember to use your eagle vision if you cannot locate the loot chest.
Hidden Ones Armor Set
The Hidden Ones set is for the sneaky assassins out there. If you are keen on continuing the game playing from the shadows rather than an all-out Viking berserker rage playstyle, then this is the perfect armor for you. The Hidden Ones set favors stealth, assassination, and headshot damage (ranged attack). Acquiring the Hidden Ones’ set is probably the most difficult due to how complicated the puzzles are if you don’t have a proper guide. You can easily get lost in the Hidden Ones’ secret bureau’s located all over England. The following are the perks you get for wearing the full Hidden Ones’ set.
Hidden Ones’ Mask
The Hidden Ones’ Mask can be found in the Hidden Ones’ Londinium Bureau in Lunden. When at the location, you will find a circular wooden structure in the middle of the ruins. You must climb up on this structure and jump in as it is hollow inside with water present at the base. Once you reach the base, you will reach an open common area. Dive underwater and go to the left side to find a breakable wooden board. Use eagle vision for better underwater visibility. You can melee it to break it and swim through the opening. You will reach another section of the Bureau cave. Move forward through the cave and you will come across some poles and a handing wooden platform. You will also cross an obstruction that leads you into the main bureau quarters. Climb up and look through the window to find some oil jars by the obstruction that you can destroy. Use your bow and arrow to shoot the oil jar to cause an explosion and blow up the obstruction. An opening will be created. Go through the opening and you will be in the main quarters with a loot chest containing the Hidden Ones’ Mask.
Hidden Ones’ Hood
The Hidden Ones’ Hood is located in Camulodunum Bureau which is in the southern corner of the Colcestre city in Essexe. You will find a hidden entrance here. There will be some ruins and among the ruins is a hidden entrance to the bureau. You will find a large bent tree that you can climb to reach the other side of the red wall seen in the image below. You will find some oil jars in front of the tree under the shade. Pick one up. climb up the tree and go over the red wall. Jump down and place the oil jar on the floor-obstruction and shoot it to blow open the hidden floor entrance to the bureau. jump down and keep going down until you can’t anymore. You will then turn right and find a thin wooden scaffolding leading up to another section of this area. Do not go left and instead go up this scaffolding. Once you’re at the top, you will then descend downstairs to a moveable shelf. The top after climbing the thin wooden scaffolding Move the shelf to reveal a doorway to the actual Camulodunum Bureau. Make sure you use your torch as it is pitch dark in here. Jump over the wooden crates and logs to reach the other side of the hall. The door at the end of the hall will be locked. Look up to your right and climb up by the assassin’s banner. Once you’re at the top, do not descend down forward. Instead, look back towards the main hall and go to the opposite side where the other banner is. There is a pole in the middle that you can use to jump across. Go across and jump down. Now, to your right is a locked door. But, we do not need to worry about that for now. There will be water ahead of you so dive down and move forward until you hit a dead-end to your right. There will be a key that you can collect. Now, go back up the way you came from but do not climb back up to the hall. Instead, unlock the door to your left using the key you just collected. When you’re inside the room, look through the metal railing and shoot the barred door across the room. This room is now accessible by going back up to the assassin’s banner but now you need to go back to the opposite side. Swing back to the opposite side, jump down and go left to find the door. You will be able to enter the room now as we have already opened it by shooting an arrow on the lock. When you enter the room, you will find a loot chest containing the Hidden Ones’ Hood.
Hidden Ones’ Robes
The Hidden Ones’ Robes can be found southeast of the Jorvik Theatre in Jorvik. There is a hidden entrance located here that you can use to access the Eboracum Bureau. Once you’re a the indicated location on the map, you will find a breakable wooden floor. Shoot the floor to access the underwater pathway that leads to the bureau. After swimming for a few seconds, you will come out on the other side where you will find a narrow gap in a wall that you can squeeze through. There will be some vases that you can break to make room for yourself. Once you’re through, do not go anywhere and turn right. You will find a small jump across. Keeping your right, move forward and jump the obstacles until you reach a moveable shelf. Moving the shelf will reveal another small gap at the bottom of the wall that you can slide through. Slide through the gap and continue to jump over obstacles until you reach another gap that you can slide through. Go through the gap and you will come across a door that you can open to enter the main headquarters of the bureau. Inside the bureau, you will find a locked door through which is a loot chest containing the Hidden Ones’ Robes. The key is right in front of the locked door on top of a shelf. Climb up the shelf and collect the key. Use the key to open the locked door and access the room with the loot chest. Open the loot chest to collect the Hidden Ones’ Robes.
Hidden Ones’ Gloves
The Hidden Ones’ Gloves can be found in an underground bureau called Ratae Bureau located in the northeastern corner of Ledecestre in Ledecestrescire. This area is in ruins. You need to find a secret ground entrance which is located to the west of the circular pillars. You will find a hanging load just above the underground entrance. You will see an obstruction below the hanging load. You can destroy this obstruction by shooting the hanging load. After clearing the obstruction, you can jump down and reach the underground cave. Keep moving forward and you will come across two gaps that you can slide through on two separate walls. Go through both of them. Once you slide through the second gap, you will reach a room in the bureau that has a loot chest containing the Hidden Ones’ Gloves.
Hidden Ones’ Leggings
The Hidden Ones’ leggings can be found in the Temple of Ceres Bureau which is located in the Forest of Denu west of Glowecestre in Glowecestrescire. There will be a temple with two statues. Head inside the temple through the main doorway located between the two statues. Once inside, turn right and you will see some crates and a vase blocking a small gap at the bottom of the wall that you can slide through. Break the crates and minor obstructions to reveal the gap. Go through the gap and you will find that the next room is full of green gas. This green gas is poisonous. But, here’s a tip, you can get rid of this green gas briefly by throwing a torch at it. Continue moving forward and you will come across a breakable wooden floor. Break the floor and jump down. Continue moving forward and you will reach a big open area with a lot of green gas. Once again use the torch to get rid of the poisonous green gas. Keep moving forward and pick one of the oil jars on your way forward. Continue going up the stairs. Don’t worry about the gas in the adjacent room as you won’t be in the poisonous gas for long. Continue moving forward with your oilp jar. You will reach an area that is pitch black. Use your eagle vision to see clearly. You will find another obstruction that can be destroyed by causing an explosion. Place the oil jar next to the obstruction and shoot the oil jar to cause an explosion and clear the obstruction. A new hole will be made in the wall. Go through it and you will reach a new room with the loot chest resting in the middle of the room with an assassin’s symbol around it that lights on fire. Loot the chest to obtain the Hidden Ones’ Leggings.
Thor’s Armor Set
While the Hidden Ones’ armor set was tricky to acquire, Thor’s Armor set is time-consuming to get your hands on. Thor’s Armor set is more of an end-game armor set. Thor’s Armor set is for those who love the finishers and stun attacks. The armor focuses on increasing your stunning power and gives additional speed when you successfully stun an enemy. The following are the perks you get when you equip the full Thor’s armor set. Acquiring Thor’s armor is quite different than the rest. This is a very unique set of armor and the method to acquire a full set is also unique. To acquire the Thor’s Battle Plate, Gauntlet, and Breeches, you must defeat the three Daughters of Lerion. To acquire Thor’s Cape, you must assassinate all the order members and return the medallions to Hytham at the settlement. This is essentially completing the Hidden Ones’ quest called ‘Breaking The Order.’ And finally, to get Thor’s helmet, you must bring the three daggers you acquire from defeating the three Daughters of Lerion and put them in a specific statue to reveal a secret underground location. You will find the helmet inside this secret location.
Daughters of Lerion
Thor’s Battle Plate - Regan
The first daughter of Lerion is found in a place called Walsham Crag located east of Elmenham in East Anglia. It is indicated by a mystery orb on the map. You will find a tortured corpse at the site. Interact with the corpse and the boss battle with the first daughter will begin. After successfully killing Regan, you will get Thor’s Battle Plate and Regan’s Dagger. These daggers are important as they will help us get Thor’s Helmet later.
Thor’s Gauntlets - Cordelia
The second daughter of Lerion is also in East Anglia in a location called Berkelow Bog west of Theotford. Interact with the corpse at the site and Cordelia will spawn commencing a boss fight. Kill Cordelia and you will obtain Cordelia’s Dagger and Thor’s Gauntlets.
Thor’s Breeches - Goneril
The third and final daughter of Lerion, Goneril can be found at Spalda Fen which is located north of Isle of Ely Monastery in Grantebridgescire. As always, interact with the corpse at the site and Goneril will spawn. Eliminate Goneril to get her dagger and Thor’s Breeches.
Thor’s Helmet
Once you’ve killed all three Daughters of Lerion, you can proceed with Thor’s Helmet as the daggers acquired from the daughters are the key to the helmet. Make your way to the hidden cave entrance in East Anglia as shown in the map below. When you reach the hidden cave entrance, you will find a wrecked crypt. Enter the crypt and go through the narrow gap in the wall. Once through, you will find a set of ladders taking you even lower. Go down and continue moving forward. Keep moving forward until you reach another set of ladders taking you up. Climb up the ladders and you will proceed to find a main central room with a huge statue in the middle. Interact with the state to insert the three daggers. You can only insert one dagger at a time. Once you’ve inserted all three daggers, the statue will explode revealing a secret pathway taking you underground. Go through the passage and you will come across the final room with a lot of loot and a special loot chest that contains Thor’s Helmet.
Thor’s Cape
Acquiring Thor’s Cape will not be as straightforward as you think. It will require you to complete the game and hunt down every member of the Order including their grand magister. Once you’ve defeated all the Order members, you can return to Hytham and give him the medallions. Once you’ve returned all the medallions, you will complete the ‘Breaking The Order’ quest and Hytham will give you Thor’s Cape as a reward. And with that, we conclude our best armors guide for Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
